United Way Contributions at $5.3 Million

December 1, 2020 | Press Release

During its virtual 2020 Campaign Celebration, Lubbock Area United Way announced that the community has contributed $5,318,237 to the Annual Campaign. Campaign Chair AJ Martinez stated that these gifts put United Way 93.1 percent toward the 2020 goal.  United Way will continue the campaign and announce the final results at its Annual Meeting in January.

“I want to recognize the faith and hope that went into every penny given so far and the hard work of all of our volunteers. I also want to recognize the thousands of people who have given during these uncertain times,” Martinez told the online crowd, adding, “We are not through yet. We are committed to the work of our Community Partners and to our South Plains communities, and we’re going to keep working alongside you to reach the goal.”

United Way Board Chair Jon Stephens recognized the medical community and their ongoing efforts to fight the virus and keep people healthy. He also acknowledged the many on the South Plains suffering due to COVID-19 and its effects while reaffirming United Way’s commitment to its mission of Giving People Hope.

In addition, Martinez recognized all volunteers who have worked on the 2020 Annual Campaign, including the 47 volunteers participating in the Loaned Executive Program who represent 41 local companies.
