United Way Meets Campaign Goal, Recognizes Volunteers
LUBBOCK, TX – Today at its Annual Meeting and Volunteer Recognition, Lubbock Area United Way announced that contributions to the 2022 Annual Campaign totaled $5,811,277 which is 100% of the goal. Contributions to the campaign support the missions of United Way’s Community Partners and the services they provide to households on the South Plains.
United Way recognized Margie Olivarez with the Rita Harmon Volunteer Service Award. The award has been presented yearly since 1993 to honor deserving individuals for a lifetime of community service. Olivarez has been a dedicated community volunteer, supporting United Way, the Girl Scouts of the Texas Oklahoma Plains, Catholic Charities Diocese of Lubbock, and numerous other organizations.
The UMC Health System United Way Team was named the 2022 Campaign Volunteer of the Year. The team is made up of more than thirty volunteers representing many departments within the system.
Tom and Kathy Krile with Catholic Charities received the award for the 2022 Community Partner Volunteer of the Year. The couple has been volunteering at the Catholic Charities Resale Center for 15 years.
Other items on the agenda included United Way’s recognition of 2022 board members and the introduction of 2023 United Way board leadership, including Becky Palmer as Board Chair and John Zwiacher as Campaign Chair. Also serving on the 2023 Executive Committee are Dr. Kathy Rollo, Board Vice Chair; Chris Boutwell, Treasurer; Jon Mark Bernal, Community Impact Chair; Amy Punchard, Marketing and Communications Chair; and Brad Burgess, Endowment Chair.
In addition, United Way announced new board members Kathleen Burrell, Renee Davis, Chad Grant, Andrea Parker, Keith Patrick, Kelsey Tubb, Liz Morgan, Lindsey Diaz, and Tyler Young.
