LUBBOCK, Texas - Lubbock has the third highest child abuse rate in the state of Texas and the "Go Blue" campaign is trying to put an end to this problem, which they say goes largely unnoticed.

"Most people are floored when they hear about the amount of abuse per day in Lubbock County," said Derek Danner, Executive Directer of the Children's Advocacy Center. "It shouldn't hurt to be a child."

Danner said there are three children abused or neglected in Lubbock County every day.

According to the center, they have already interviewed hundreds of children, and say that number is only getting higher.

"People are reporting cases more often, which is great, but we need more work done by the community," Danner said. "We won't stop until there is no child abused or neglected in Lubbock County."

Officials said the only way to end this on-going problem is to recognize the signs, and become a voice for them. If you would like to learn more about the campaign you can HERE.
