In accordance with CDC recommendations, the Go Blue Lubbock Kickoff originally scheduled for March 27th has been canceled. Below are additional ways you can participate. We will be updating as we formulate alternative plans to mark the importance of Child abuse Prevention Month.
In conjunction with National Child Abuse Prevention Month in April, GO BLUE LUBBOCK is a community-wide effort to bring awareness to high rates of child abuse in our area and the need for prevention education. In Lubbock County, an average of 3 children per day become confirmed victims of abuse and neglect. Other victims exist but go unreported, 24 hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Most of the children are age three and under.
In light of the COVID-19 outbreak in our community, child abuse prevention is even more important as parents and caregivers face added stress, anxiety, and instability - factors that contribute to child abuse and neglect. Your voice at this time is incredibly important to the children of Lubbock County.
Here's how you can get involved:
Participate in GO BLUE Fridays by wearing blue every Friday in April and sharing why you wear blue.
Share and tag all through April with the hashtag #GOBLUELUBBOCK
