Every day in Lubbock County an average of three children become confirmed victims of child abuse and neglect. The majority of victims are under the age of 3.
To bring light to this issue, Lubbock Area United Way and the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce are partnering with the South Plains Coalition for Child Abuse Prevention in hosting the 6th Annual GO BLUE LUBBOCK.
Go Blue Lubbock kicks off on March 29th at 8:30 AM with an event at the FirstBank & Trust Conference Center including special guests Mayor Dan Pope, Lubbock County Commissioner Bill McCay, Lubbock Police Chief Greg Stevens, and Lubbock County Criminal District Attorney Sunshine Stanek. Area legislators will also be in attendance subject to their schedules for the legislative session. Additional events will also take place throughout the month of April. See the full schedule below.
Here are 5 simple ways you can help:
Wear blue every Friday in April.
Take a selfie and share it with the tag #GoBlueLubbock
Tell everyone why you're wearing blue.
Ask your business, church, friends, and family to wear blue, too.
