DFPS Statewide Listening Tour to visit Lubbock on May 1

Texas Department of Family & Protective Services (DFPS) Deputy Commissioner Trevor Woodruff and Associate Commissioner Sasha Rasco (Prevention & Early Intervention Division) will be in Lubbock on Tuesday, May 1 as part of the DFPS 2018 Listening Tour. The purpose of the visit is for DFPS to get an in-depth view of our community and the family strengthening and child abuse prevention programs that receive state funding.

This visit is an important opportunity to communicate to state level decision makers the unique needs and challenges our community faces in regards to child abuse and neglect. Results from the tour are expected to be used during the 2019 legislative session while crafting funding priorities and program strategies.

The event will include presentations by: Lubbock Area United Way, Mayor Dan Pope, Senator Charles Perry (Senate District 28), Representative John Frullo (House District 84), Parenting Cottage, Catholic Charities, and StarCare Specialty Systems. An audience Q & A will follow the presentations.
