Mission: To prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law.
Boy Scouts is a values-based youth development organization, providing programs for young people that build character, train them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship and develop personal fitness. Programs span the range from early youth through young adults, and offer many opportunities for leaders.
Programs funded by the Lubbock Area United Way:
Cub Scouts: For boys Grades 1-5, Cub Scouting is the foundation of the organization and involves the whole family as parents pitch in to plan and deliver activities.
Boy Scouts: For boys 11-17 years old, this is the traditional Scouting experience for young men. While there's guidance from experienced leaders, Boy Scouts take their own lead, exploring places they've never been as they dive into the rugged world of outdoor adventure.
Venturing: Venturing is a coed program for young adults ages 13 (and have completed the 8th grade) through 20. Venturing's motto, "Lead the Adventure," reminds Venturers to always pursue life in the spirit of adventure.
Exploring: Exploring is for older or more senior scouts or those in the age range above who have never been involved in the scouting program. A coed program, Exploring allows individuals to explore career fields and opportunities that interest them.
