Success In School
The education system is increasingly overwhelmed by students who lack positive role models. Often, these students miss opportunities to develop skills and build social competency to be successful at school. The objective of Success In School is to remove barriers and create opportunities that help young people embrace a successful future, beginning with high school graduation.
Here are some of the obstacles that our community faces:
- 22% of Lubbock County children live in poverty.
- People with a high school education have a 75% lower unemployment rate than those who do not have a high school education.
- Hispanics, along with black students, are at higher risk of dropping out of school, and are the fastest growing population in Texas.
