Mission: The American Red Cross, a humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its congressional charter and the fundamental principles of the International Red Cross Movement, will provide relief to victims of disaster and help people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Programs funded by the Lubbock Area United Way:
Disaster Services - Compassion in action. Our disaster relief focuses on meeting the immediate emergency, disaster-induced needs of individuals and families. Assistance may include a safe, dry place to sleep, a warm meal or a change of clothing. When Red Cross volunteers respond to disasters, they help families take the first step from crisis to stability. Our disaster response also often includes feeding emergency workers and handling requests for information from concerned family members.

Services to the Armed Forces - The American Red Cross links members of the U.S. Armed Forces with their families during a crisis. Twenty-four hours a day, 365 days a year, active duty and community-based military can count on the Red Cross to provide emergency communications that link them with their families back home, access to financial assistance from the military aid societies, counseling, referral to community resources and assistance to veterans.

Health and Safety Services - For nearly a century, the American Red Cross has prepared people to save lives through health and safety education and training. With First Aid/CPR/AED Training, Swimming and Lifeguard Training, Babysitter's Training and Pet First Aid, the American Red Cross Preparedness programs help people and their pets lead safer and healthier lives.
