Mission:The mission of Communities In Schools On the South Plains, Inc.
(CIS-SP) is to meet the needs of students in at-risk situations by improving academics, behavior, and attendance through the partnership of school, home, and community so that young people stay in school, learn successfully, and prepare for life.
Communities In Schools programs funded by the Lubbock Area United Way:
Resource Development for expansion and increased services
CIS assigns case managers to campuses to coordinate community resources and make them more readily available to children and families.
CIS-SP is a year-round, campus-based prevention and intervention program that uses a case management, multidisciplinary approach to help students with academics, behavior, and attendance. CIS involves the community and prevents duplication of services by creating partnerships and collaborations to coordinate resources to offer support and guidance to students and their families. Curbing the dropout rate and improving the educational experience of children require a partnership with schools, public assistance personnel, social service agencies, the juvenile court system, volunteer organizations, and the business community.
