Leadership Giving
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more then you are a leader,” John Quincy Adams.
There are many types of leaders in our community. Some lead by example and through volunteerism and giving their time. United Way relies on volunteers to accomplish our mission in the community. Others have shown their leadership through giving a significant gift each year to the United Way. Their generosity increases United Way’s ability to create positive lasting change in the lives of our neighbors.
The Lubbock Area United Way established the Leadership Giving Circle in 1989 as a way to recognize some of our most generous donors. These couples and individuals commit to give at least $1,000 per year to United Way. This year, there are 500 members of the Circle, who contributed 20% of the overall campaign. United Way is very grateful to these supporters for their dedication to our work and mission.
Take a moment to read the stories of two of our Leadership Givers as they share why they are so committed to United Way.

We were asked why we support the United Way. We would ask why would you not? This is OUR community where we live, work and play. We love the Lubbock area and would only like to see it grow and improve in every possible positive way. I know that what I donate to the United Way goes to help fund programs for 23 Community Partners. It’s probably the best way to make the largest impact in our community. The services and programs these Community Partners offer help everyone from the neighbor next door to a family across town and we believe when one is helped many are affected.

United Way provides hope and opportunities to our community. This is why I give my time and money to this outstanding organization. The Lubbock Area United Way creates opportunities for organizations like Boys and Girls Scouts, Women’s Protective Service, Children’s Advocacy Center, and other partner agencies so they can meet the educational and health needs of the people in our community.
It gives me a special warm feeling knowing that my dollars are helping the Lubbock community. Lubbock Area United Way’s Mission is Giving People Hope. I know that my dollars are giving people hope. The Lord has blessed me with just enough and it is with his grace and mercy that I am able to give back.
I challenge others to be a giver of their money and/or time. If you are not able to give money then give your time. Be a volunteer with the Lubbock Area United Way or one of the partner agencies. United Way makes dreams come true for the babies, children, and adults in our community. Thanks Lubbock Area United Way for your hard work and dedication to making a difference in so many lives.
