Mission: To provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.
Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”), ages 6 through 18. When children and teens have the influence of a caring adult, they are more likely to avoid risky behaviors and to focus on academics. Today's youth face a variety of challenges, and being matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister can help them navigate these challenges and reach their potential.
Programs funded by the Lubbock Area United Way:
Mentoring Program: Helps children ages 5-18 reach their potential through professionally supported, one-to-one relationships with mentors that have measurable impact on youth. Programs include a community-based program and a school-based program. Individuals and couples can serve as mentors.
